Business Analyst Manager

Life Insurance Industry

 

THE OPPORTUNITY:  Join Mutual Trust Life Insurance Company as a Business Analyst Manager leading a strong technical team for the Business Application Development group.  This leadership position is highly visible and hands on!  This is a great opportunity to lead a team of Business, Configuration, Math and Quality Analysts.

DAY-TO DAY-ACTIVITES:

The Business Analyst Manager performs all of the functions of the Business Analyst, in addition to, but not limited to, the following:

  • Translate complex and varied business needs into life insurance application software requirements
  • Be the subject matter expert, well versed in the policies and procedures of the Company
  • Provide leadership, direction and challenging assignments to staff members to maximize effectiveness.
  • Complete performance reviews and identify and maintain appropriate staffing levels.
  • Sets deadlines, assigns responsibilities, mentors, and monitors progress of the team
  • Identifies and resolves gaps in skills, processes, and resources
  • Ensures business requirements for applications are in compliance with enterprise architecture
  • Serve as a liaison between the programming resources for life insurance illustrations and the policy administration system, ALIS
  • Oversee the business analyst functions of the application software which includes complex changes to the business rules, help screens, rate utility, reports, and the creation/coordination of installation packages and patches
  • Maintain department workflow and quality control, and function as the main point of contact for the department, including answering questions and providing direction to others outside the department.
  • In conjunction with the Vice President, Application Development, help insure that department goals and objectives are aligned to strategic plans
  • Works with stakeholders and functional areas to develop business requirements
  • Develops guidelines for capturing business requirements
  • Must strike a balance between project hours and customer system support

YOUR PROFILE:

  • Strong and demonstrated collaboration, facilitation and conflict management skills
  • Prior experience in a Managerial role, with proven success at developing and/or maintaining a cohesive, collaborative, productive work team. Must be able to manage clear expectations by establishing clear timelines, deliverables and milestones
  • Demonstrate creative problem solving and solid judgment decision making
  • Prior experience with insurance administration systems
  • Proven in-depth knowledge of Excel formulas and multiple worksheets within the workbook
  • Proven ability to create business requirements, business processes, and project plans
  • Experience in defining detailed business requirements to support strategic and/or tactical projects
  • Intermediate to expert level knowledge of Visual Basic, Visual C++, Access/SQL/other databases and query tools, or other related languages as required for various projects
  • Proven excellent mathematical aptitude and strong analytical skills
  • Undergraduate degree in applicable field, such as mathematics or computer science
  • Completion of the Fellow, Life Management Institute (FLMI) designation, or are working towards completion
